Nothing is more important to the success of NSP's education programs than the cadre of hard-working instructors who deliver those programs. The NSP Instructor Development Programs consists of two components that provide training in course management as well as instruction, the Instructor Development course and a mentoring program. The Instructor Development course covers the various areas of instruction and how instructors can apply them to create a positive learning experience for their students. Helps build a strong foundation of educational knowledge for use when planning and delivering lessons. The general information covered in Instructor Development is applicable for all potential NSP instructors, regardless of instructional specialty.
The course examines effective teaching techniques with emphasis on the adult learner evaluation processes. It includes preparation and delivery of two lessons using the "six-pack" format. These classes are cooperative learning experiences. Students will assist one another in preparing to teach NSP classes. The class enables students to support and evaluate one another in preparation, rehearsal and polishing of their class presentations.
The class will meet from 8:00am to 4:00pm. There is no charge for this course. Befort the class, you should read the course text book, "Instructor Development - Training the Adult Learner". The NSP supports its members through credentialed education and training in leadership, outdoor emergency care, safety and transportation services, which enables members to serve the community in the safe enjoyment of outdoor recreation.
